Contract e-signature
Signing a rental contract through a link, with the time, IP address and browser recorded as evidence.
An e-signature on a rental contract is not a scan of a squiggle. It is a record that a specific person accepted specific wording at a specific moment: the name, the email, the timestamp, the IP address and the browser used.
For self-storage this matters because the alternative is worse. A paper contract means a meeting on site or a photograph taken at an angle, and a year later nobody can find it. A signing link closes the contract in a minute and files the evidence automatically.
An example. A customer books a unit at 11 p.m. The contract is generated from the operator’s template, the customer signs it on the rental page, and the system records who signed, when and from where. A new link invalidates the previous one, so an old link cannot be used twice.
Local rules on contract form differ, so the wording of your template and terms is worth reviewing with a lawyer in your market — as with any contract.
